Welcome to the Men only section of Comets. Here you’ll find detail of the running sessions, courses and cycle rides on offer.

Your leader will be Martin Hale who is a keen triathlete having tackled numerous half and iron distance events. He’s now got his sights on ultra distance events so has has a wealth of experience running. He is also a qualified triathlon coach so is fully qualified to coach and lead these sessions.

Following the popularity of the Women’s course we now have a men only course

This course will next operate when we have enough people showing interest – watch this space or follow Comets Men on Facebook for updates.

This course takes total running beginners up to 5km over 10 weeks.

This course is led by coach Martin. He will use a system of walk / jog sessions to build your stamina and fitness and importantly allow your body to adapt to the exercise. This system of increasing slowly is key to prevent injury.  Over the course of the programme you will steadily build your jogging distances / times whilst reducing your walking until you can comfortably jog / run without the need to walk. As a group there is then the option to complete the course with a free 5km Park run. Leaders and other Comets group members are there to support you on your fitness journey. The leaders will also provide plans for sessions you can complete in your own time either by yourself or liasing with other group members via the Fit.Fun.Five. dedicated Whatsapp group.


The course cost £20 for the full 10 weeks paid in advance (Please use the PayPal link below £21 inc. PayPal fees or request bank transfer details). Payment secures your place. If payment hasn’t been received 2 weeks before the course we will open up your place (sorry but this has been due to people not turning up after holding a place). Thanks

We also have a running session on a Wednesday evening following the Fit Fun Five course for those who already have some running experience. Distance will vary according to who attends each session. If we have mixed abilities then routes will allow some to finish early and others to continue further. Nobody gets left behind. If you are a beginner then we would suggest the Fit Fun Five course above to get you started.
